19th Century Canton sauce boat with a pretty scallop edge. Decorated in an underglaze blue with a traditional Chinese hand decoration set against a white porcelain ground. In very good antique condition.
From the 1600’s to late 1860’s, Canton porcelain was molded and fired in kilns in the province of Ching-Te Chen, then shipped to the port city of Canton for painting. It then made it’s way to the English and American markets.
