Chuckleberry is a redcurrant, gooseberry and jostaberry cross. To make it even more interesting, a jostaberry is a hybrid of a gooseberry and blackcurrant. The result is a blackcurrant-like bush that produces high yields of dark, superbly flavored, versatile berries in mid-July. The berries make fantastic red jams and jellies.
