14.5" Chinese Export Canton Porcelain Octagonal Deep Platter

Beautiful 19th Century Canton deep platter, decorated in an underglaze blue with a traditional Chinese hand decoration set against a white porcelain ground. In very good antique condition with some staining on rim (see photo).

From the 1600’s to late 1860’s, Canton porcelain was molded and fired in kilns in the province of Ching-Te Chen, then shipped to the port city of Canton for painting. It then made it’s way to the English and American markets.
