Coromandel Indienne Fabric Pin Cushion

Essential in every sewing box, these refined little pin cushions are completely handmade in Sajou fabrics in a small workshop just around the corner from Maison Sajou in Versailles.   This indienne is reminiscent of the old models which, in India, were dyed with turmeric. The pattern is named Coromandel, in memory of the Indian coast of the same name where, from the 17th century, many trading posts of the different Indian companies were established. This is where the boats loaded with fabrics before leaving for Europe. It is tightly stuffed to make it easy to pick both pins and needles, with a small button on both the top and bottom.

Maison Sajou is a French company that revived a historic haberdashery brand, known for high quality embroidery, sewing, and textile products.
