Forest Welsh Throw in Summer

Inspired by the changing colors and seasons of the wooded valley surrounding the Melin Tregwynt mill, the Forest design branches out from tradition. The bold, simple and contemporary motif is complemented by beautiful evocative tones. It brings a little of the outdoors in; extending your favorite season at any time of year.

This reversible design is made from 100% pure new wool, and is soft, warm and easy to care for.  All throws are finished with a simple hem so you can choose to display either side.

Welsh double weave patterns or "tapestries" are an iconic Welsh design.  While the doublecloth structure is no longer exclusive to Wales, each Welsh mill developed their own patterns, which identified where the blanket was from.

The tradition of weaving in Wales goes right back to the Middle Ages.  The country's hills and lowland pastures make for great sheep country and fast running streams provided the power needed in the pre-industrial age. The industry declined greatly after World War I, with only a few mills surviving.  Melin Tregwynt, which sits along the Pembrokeshire coast in West Wales, is one of them.
