Taking its inspiration from the green hedging around blocks of green fields, the green-on-green reflects this valley's farmland structure. The design itself is based on a prominent architectural feature of the Langdale Youth Hostel, a Victorian mansion that was at one point owned by the Benson's, a family of fullers (finishers of cloth that would be made into clothing and sold locally in Kendal).
Created by the Lancs and Lakes Guild of Spinners, Weavers and Dyers, the throw is woven from Cheviot cross wool rom Harry Place Farm in the Langdale Valley.
